Hi Folks, OK, OK, OK, yes I’ve been slack on the “monthly” newsletter.
This year has probably been my busiest yet. And it’s all “good” busy. Lots of touring around Australia both solo and sometimes with guests with my Sizzling Strings format. I have a selection of wonderful musicians who come and play a few tunes with me. Banjo, Fiddle Uke, Guitar are all eligible as Sizzling String players. I love it as I not only get to do my Solo thing, but then I get to accompany and jam with others. We’ve had a great response from the George Golla/ B.M. CD Still Got My Guitar. The two different styles really gel and George is fantastic to work with. For those of you that have followed my career and musical path, you will have seen various influences injected into my music whether it be the Chet Atkins/Merle Travis pickin’ to the African rhythms and most things in between. At present I’m getting great inspiration from the Gypsy Jazz player Django Reinhardt. As with my other influences, I have no interest in trying to become that player but rather learn from their musical spirit, adopt some of their technique and apply it to my own thing. Of course when not touring I’m still working hard on new musical things, making the existing better, Scoring and recording the music for documentaries and I’ve taken on a few students when I’m at home. The balance of all these things is great. Playing live is still the most exiting of all. Next is Sydney, then of to England/Ireland for three weeks, Back to Qld.-Australia, then I have three weeks to complete a 50 min Documentary score and a 10 min Documentary highlight score, then onto Vic-Australia. Lots to do, better go, see you at one of my shows, Hoo roo.
Cheers, |
